Yes! Families are responsible for bringing the cake/cupcakes. We have a refrigerator available if needed. To keep things running smoothly, cake is served toward the end of the party, and children will wash or sanitize hands before and after eating. (we recommend cake and maybe another item or two - we have seen a lot of parties where children are served a full plate of food and most is thrown away)
What to Expect at Your Stemily Studios Birthday Party
Thank you so much for choosing to celebrate your child’s birthday at Stemily Studios! We’re so excited to host your family and can’t wait to celebrate with you. Below is a guide to help you know what to expect on the day of your party.
What Happens During Each Part of the Party:
Doors Open for Set-Up
Host families are welcome to bring decorations if they’d like! Most families bring a Happy Birthday banner and a few balloons, which works great for the space.
Keep in mind that our studio is already bright and colorful, so there’s no need to go over the top with decorations. Also, our tables are arranged in a U-shape, so tablecloths typically do not fit well and are best skipped.
Arrival & Free Play
During this time, kids can explore our main play area and the Rice Room while everyone arrives.
Parents of guests are welcome to drop off their child and return at 2:00 PM, or they may stay for the party. Seating is somewhat limited, though, so larger parties may not have extra chairs available for all parents.
We ask that guests do not enter the Fort area during this time, as it will be set up for the themed activities.
Guided Activities in the Fort
Your party host will gather the group in the Fort and lead the themed activities you selected when booking the party.
Parents are welcome to watch, and depending on the theme and age of the children, a little help from parents may be needed for younger guests.
Transition & Free Play
After the activities are completed, your party host will begin resetting the Fort area.
Finished projects will be moved to the front so guests can easily collect them as they leave, and the tables will be wiped down as the space is prepared for the food portion of the party.
During this time, guests will enjoy more free play in the studio.
Cake, Presents & Celebration
This portion of the party is parent-led. Parents will set up cake, cupcakes, or snacks in the Fort area.
We recommend keeping food simple—cake or cupcakes and one additional snack is usually perfect. We’ve seen many parties where kids load up their plates with pizza, chips, cupcakes, and more, and unfortunately a lot ends up going to waste. (That’s one of the reasons we schedule parties between meal times!)
Parents are responsible for throwing away trash and doing a quick sweep of the floor if needed. Our vacuum can easily handle small crumbs but cannot handle large food pieces (like popcorn or chips) or cake crumbs, which can jam the wheels.
Your party host will vacuum and sanitize the space after the party ends.
Goodbyes
At 2:00 PM, the party wraps up and the birthday child should begin saying goodbye to their friends as parents arrive for pick-up.
Before leaving, we ask the host family to help tidy up the play areas by returning materials to their general spaces:
Ping pong balls back in their baskets
Ball Wall pieces placed back on the magnetic wall
Dramatic play items returned to the shelves
LEGO pieces and cars returned to the LEGO table
Everything does not need to go back perfectly, but we appreciate helping tidy things up and returning items to their correct areas.
